Social Project

Dear students and teachers,
This year in POSMUN, we have an ambitious goal - not only are we looking forward to debating relevant issues in our UN simulation, but also practically tackling them. In that sense, we would like to announce the POSMUN Social Commitment Initiative, in which one of the discussed topics of POSMUN will also be turned into a social project.
This year’s topic will be period poverty, theme of the UN Women committee. Especially due to COVID, the access to menstrual hygiene products in lower-income communities in Brazil has been even more jeopardized. In order to provide some aid for such, we will be collecting pads, tampons, menstrual cups, pantyliners, etc. Such will be donated to low-income communities in São Paulo City.
After presenting such project to the school direction, it was decided that such initiative could be open not only to participants of POSMUN but also to our High School students and interested teachers and collaborators.
Please consider donating! For many women in Brazil, the lack of access to hygienic products affects their work, health, wellbeing immensely. Soon donation boxes will be placed throughout the school, where you can put your donations. May you have any questions, suggestions or trouble finding the boxes, please feel free to reach me (Gabriel de Oliveira Fernandes, 2-4MB1)!
Gratefully,
Gabriel Fernandes and POSMUN organizing team
